TikTok (known as Douyin in China) is a video sharing Social Media app that has been available world wide since 2018. It has grown rapidly and by October 2020, TikTok had amassed over 130 million downloads in the USA and over 1 billion downloads worlwdide. TikTok consists of short (15-60sec videos) usually entertainment based. Morning Consult ranked TikTok as the third fastest growing app in the world behind only Zoom and Peacock.
TikTok tends to appeal to the younger generation, with 41% of its users between the ages of 16 and 24 and 90% of these users say they use the app daily. There are currently more males on TikTok then females with 56% of the users male and only 44% female.
